Quaint Beautifully Restored
Provencal Townhouse in Seillans Quaint
Provencal village house in heart of Seillans with rooftop terrace and
stunning views HOUSE This 17th-century house is only steps via cobbled pathways from the chateau, 12th-century church and Marie (Town Hall) that comprise the historic heart of picturesque medieval Seillans. Cresting a rise near the top of this ancient "village perche", the small, four-story house is perfectly positioned: it's pinky-beige front and sides are protected from the weather by wall-to-wall neighbours and the narrow street; once inside and up two-short flights of curving stairs, the living room and terrace above open onto a view the sweeps across terra-cotta roof-stops to a fertile valley and the craggy Esterel Mountains beyond. The house was completely restored about 15 years ago. Inside, earthenware tiles and hand-woven fabrics in shades of yellow, slate blue and aqua combine with the thick, stone walls plastered in white (that help keep the house cool in summer) to create an airy, comfortable home. Come winter, electric heaters join with a large open fireplace in the living room to provide warmth. The entrance hall, behind the double-width mahogany doors which lead in from the street, has a large mirrored armoire for coats, suitcases and the like. Up a short, curved flight of stairs, the second-floor bedroom has a desk, twin beds and two closets. There is adjoining a white-tiled bathroom with combined bath/shower, hand basin and washing machine and dryer. The living room/dining room/kitchen area, up a second short flight of stairs, has large windows that give onto the stellar view. Also on this level is a new, white-and-yellow tiled bathroom and the double-bedded master bedroom with a TV, desk and cosy sitting area. Red geraniums accent the view from the rooftop terrace accessed from the living room via a ladder-like stairway. A table, chairs, grill, running water and a complete set of tableware make this the perfect spot for summer meals under the stars.
APARTMENT The apartment is situated next to the house and has all of the charm of its neighbour. The property was renovated 15 years ago along with the house so maintains a continuity with its 'big brother'. Based on 2 levels, the first of which is an open plan dining room, living room & kitchenette. The room has a central fireplace and access to a small balcony that is perfect for 'pre dinner aperitifs', there is also outside furniture provided in the form of a small table and chairs. The second floor is reached via a short curved flight of stairs, there is a twin bedroom with a desk and walk in wardrobe. This is adjoining a tiled bathroom with large shower, hand basin, W.C. and washing machine. The apartment offers an ideal additional bedroom should your party require it with the added bonus of being a completely self contained unit. The apartment can only be rented along with the main house.
